Recently, I had an appointment in Ann Arbor, Michigan and I took full advantage of the trip by stopping at my favorite thrift store The Ann Arbor Thrift Store (3500 Washtenaw Ave.) The store has been around since 1932 and the sales all help to support the community. Even though the store is tiny, the prices are reasonable and it is jam packed with great items.
Who doesn't love a good thrifting trip? Since I have an antique booth I am always on the hunt for cool stuff and good deals so that I can resell them in my booth at Plaza Antiques & Collectibles Mall in Lincoln Park, Michigan.
How are the thrift stores near you? Near me (Southeastern Michigan) the thrift stores have been pricey and the shelves have been bare. This has not been a new problem, the thrift stores have been like this for over a year. My daughter recently asked me to stop at a local thrift store to look and I reluctantly agreed. After we entered I was so glad she had wanted to go. I found a nice surprise. The thrift stores were restocked and they were bursting with inventory. I had to re-learn how to thrift again. I had to go extra slow...
With dreary cold weather in Michigan it was the perfect time to go on a thrifting road trip to explore downtown Monroe, Michigan. Monroe is only 30-40 minutes south of Detroit and filled with so many great thrift stores. I also found something I never expected to find in a thrift store.
