About Us
Hello! My name is Christina Cardinal. I am the owner of The Turned Leg.
I believe that everyone should have the right to a beautiful home. As a single mother with a very limited budget, I have to get creative. I shop thrift stores and tag sales and friends’ homes to salvage pieces of furniture and repurpose them, giving those pieces a second life.
The technique I use depends upon the piece. I refinish furniture, use clay paint, and milk paint and wax or apply a topcoat. I love to distress and create a chippy finish. With a lot of meticulous work, I can give a new life and a new purpose for my finds.
All of my pieces are one-of-a-kind. Each piece has a character, a past life, and that’s what I love about them. Since my house can hold only so much and I continue to find amazing pieces, I decided to start a business to share what I make with others. I also want to share what I have learned with others and inspire their creativity.
The Turned Leg sells salvaged and repurposed furniture and home goods at Plaza Antiques & Collectibles at 2621 Dix Highway in Lincoln Park, Michigan. Plaza Antiques & Collectibles is open six days and week and is Downriver’s largest antique mall with over 70 dealers. My booth is #134. In addition to painted furniture, I sell antiques, home goods, salvaged items, and hardware. I am also a local retailer for DIY Paints, Sweet Pickins Milk Paints, JRV Stencils, JRV Wood, JRV Decoupage Paper, Saltwash and Paint Pixie Brushes.
Thanks for visiting The Turned Leg, the home of salvaging, repurposing and creating.
