I have to admit I love old barns. I love them so much that I actually have always had dreams of owning one myself. Since that dream may still be a few years off I thought for my next project I would find a way to bring the barn to my home.
My next project is to create a barn wood accent wall in my side entry. I have never really done much to the space. It was all white and I hung a few hooks to hang coats, but that was about it. My entryway also had a problem with peeling paint since I moved it and it was one of those projects that just got pushed back until now.
Recently, I visited Reclaimed Michigan in Waterford, Michigan. They love to salvage old stuff just like I do and also love to save the wood from old Michigan barns. You can watch my whole video on my YouTube Channel with my video on my Roadtrip to Reclaimed Michigan. I found so much good stuff and brought back a whole bunch to help me with my side door entry.
My plan is to create a DIY barn wood wall a little more than half way up the wall and still have a spot for a few hooks for coats. If you want to see the whole process step-by-step you can check out the video here. I learned a lot and love how the project turned out. My small entry is now my favorite room in my house. And now I have my barn...well kind of.
